Wired’s NextFest was host to Sir Richard Branson announcement and display of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo mockups. SpaceShipTwo is 60ft long, a little over twice as long as SpaceShipOne. SpaceShipOne is the winner of the X-prize competition for the first reusable spaceship competition and is the basis for SpaceShipTwo. This 60 feet of fuselage will hold two pilots, six passengers. and possibly experiments. The cabin mockups appear to be padded and has several windows large windows, or ports if you wish, for the passengers to view Earth and the great expanses of space. All this and more can be had for mere $200,000.00. In addition to the two and a half hour space flight they’ll get three days of space flight training. Additional details can be found at the links below.
